Tuition & Policy

Lessons are weekly for 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes, and only the registered student can be in the lesson room.

Due Upon Registration:

• Refundable Deposit of Two Lessons due at registration to hold your lesson day/time slot and refundable at the end of the music school year after the completion of the entire music school year.  

• Non-Refundable Annual Administration Fee - This fee includes but is not limited to the following: administration, billing, one mandatory recital, one optional recital, three optional performances, recital/performance preparation, a masterclass, recital/performance accompanist fee(s), recital/performance facility fees, certification opportunity for  students, and an opportunity for community service with the Joyful Sound of Music.

Summer Session

• Summer lessons are given from mid-June to mid-August. Payments are made in full on the first summer lesson date since it is only up to eight weeks. Students have the option to choose and are responsible to inform Joy Music Studio of the day(s) the student will be unavailable for lessons before the summer session begins. 

Use of Photographs and Videos 

The safety and privacy of our students is important to us! Joy Music Studio may take photographs or videos of classes, lessons, performances, concerts, and more for publicity, promotional and educational purposes in on-line and print materials. We do not include any names in any of our captions. If you do NOT consent for us to use photographs or videos of your child or a family member, please email us at lessons4metoo@gmail.com

Payments 

• You will receive access to your online tuition statement. Your tuition will be billed and paid in trimonthly payments using cash or a check. 
• A 10% late fee will be charged to your account 7 days after the due date. If your total tuition is not paid before the second lesson after the due date, lessons will be discontinued and all administration fees and deposits will be forfeited. 

Absences*

• All weekly music lessons must be paid for.
• In the event of an absence, please notify Joy Music Studio by email or text at least a 24-hour advance notice for any absences.

Makeups*

• If absence is due to a required school/religious activity, a family emergency, or accident and the student requests a makeup lesson, we will try our best to schedule a makeup lesson. 
• Music lessons missed for any other reasons or that is canceled with less than a 24 hours notice will not be eligible for a makeup lesson and will be charged/forfeited.
• If a student cancels with less than 24 hours due to an illness, a doctor's note will be required for a makeup to be scheduled. 
• Each student will receive up to four makeup lessons per music school year and a substitute instructor may be utilized. More than four absences per music school year will be charged and forfeited due to the time and preparation commitment unless it is initiated by the teacher. 
• Accommodations cannot be made for more than four makeup lessons per music school year unless initiated by the instructor. A makeup for a makeup will not be given. A substitute teacher may be utilized as needed. 
• Missed or canceled makeup lessons will not be rescheduled or carried over to the next session.

Refer a friend and receive TWO FREE HALF HOUR LESSONS during the summer once your friend registers and completes a music school year (valid only during that referred music school year).

ADULT STUDENT POLICY

• Non-Refundable Administration Fee - This fee includes but is not limited to the following: administration, billing,  optional performances, preparation, accompaniment and rental facility fees a masterclass, certification opportunity, and an opportunity for community service with the Joyful Sound of Music.  

Discontinuing Lessons

After discussions between the teacher, the parent, the student and the director, please email us at least two weeks before discontinuing lessons. 

*Students may be asked to discontinue lessons at the discretion of the director due to unpaid tuition, numerous amount of absences, or lack of interest shown by the student.
