About Us

Welcome to Joy Music Studio!

We are thrilled for the opportunity to teach you or your child the art of music. Our passion lies in nurturing each student's musical journey, and your growth is our priority. We are committed to providing guidance, instruction, and encouragement every step of the way.

Performances, Recitals, & Concerts: We offer plenty of opportunites throughout the music school year to participate in one of our performances, recitals, or concerts. We invite you to share these exciting and memorable events with your family and friends.


Certification Auditions are held for eligible students during the first week of June to inspire excellence. These auditions, lasting approximately 10-15 minutes, may occur within the student's regular music lesson or scheduled on another day. Students will perform in front of their teacher, another musician, or the director.


Qualified string and other instrument players are given the opportunity to perform for the community with the Joyful Sound of Music. Auditions are open to all levels, from beginners to advanced. For details on rehearsal schedules and fees, please inquire.

Ms. Joy, the founder of Joy Music Studio and co-director of Joyful Sound of Music, specializes in teaching children ages 3 and up, as well as beginner to advanced students in piano and other instruments. With a musical journey beginning at the age of six, she has been mentored by diverse musicians from prestigious institutions such as Cur

Ms. Joy, the founder of Joy Music Studio and co-director of Joyful Sound of Music, specializes in teaching children ages 3 and up, as well as beginner to advanced students in piano and other instruments. With a musical journey beginning at the age of six, she has been mentored by diverse musicians from prestigious institutions such as Curtis, Temple University, and Juilliard. Graduating Summa Cum Laude from Temple University Boyer College of Music with a degree in Music Education and Piano Performance, she excelled musically and academically and received numerous honors and scholarships, including recognition in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. Ms. Joy holds certifications to teach and conduct ensembles, chorus, and orchestra in various instruments at both public and private schools from kindergarten to 12th grade, and she is also certified as a TESOL/ESL teacher. Her teaching experience includes positions in the Philadelphia, North Penn, Souderton, and Pennridge School Districts, where she taught general music, chorus, and orchestra. Currently, she instructs elementary, middle, and high school orhchestras at Dock Mennonite Academy. Actively involved with Joyful Sound of Music alongside her siblings, Ms. Joy is dedicated to nurturing musical talent. She furthered her education by completing a Master of Music Technology at UVF, enhancing her expertise in the field.

Mr. Lloyd teaches guitar, contemporary piano, and improvisation at JMS. His musical journey began at the age of three with intensive violin and flute lessons and later expanded to include cello, acoustic guitar, drums, and voice. Proficient in electric guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele, Mr. Lloyd captivates audiences with his remarkable vo

Mr. Lloyd teaches guitar, contemporary piano, and improvisation at JMS. His musical journey began at the age of three with intensive violin and flute lessons and later expanded to include cello, acoustic guitar, drums, and voice. Proficient in electric guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele, Mr. Lloyd captivates audiences with his remarkable voice and passion for music.

In December 2016, he won first place at a global mission conference in Rochester, New York, for his singing and guitar performance. Prior to that, he received an award at a vocal competition while studying under Judith Turano. Mr. Lloyd enjoys spontaneously picking up an instrument and singing along, bringing creativity and enthusiasm to his music-making. He has also served as a member of his church’s worship team and as a coach with Push the Rock, a Christian sports program serving the community.

Mr. Lloyd earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Computer Engineering and a minor in Music from Temple University. He went on to pursue a master’s degree at Rutgers University. He currently works as an engineer at KBR, where he applies his technical expertise to his professional career while continuing to share his passion for music through teaching at JMS.

 Ms. Kara Yoo teaches flute and piano at JMS. Her musical journey commenced at the age of three with the piccolo and flute, later expanding to include the piano and violin. With a remarkable talent for the flute, she achieved first prize in multiple TCY Competitions, including a duo performance of "A Dialogue for the Flute and Violin" in 

 Ms. Kara Yoo teaches flute and piano at JMS. Her musical journey commenced at the age of three with the piccolo and flute, later expanding to include the piano and violin. With a remarkable talent for the flute, she achieved first prize in multiple TCY Competitions, including a duo performance of "A Dialogue for the Flute and Violin" in 2016 alongside her sister, Ms. Sophia Yoo. Throughout her musical career, Ms. Kara Yoo earned numerous scholarship awards at SMS and showcased her talents with the Metropolitan Ballet Company in a performance of Terschak in 2014. Additionally, she served as a coach at Push the Rock, a Christian sports program in the community. Ms. Kara Yoo graduated from Temple University with a degree in electrical engineering, specializing in computer engineering, and minoring in music. She currently works at KBR and remains actively involved with the Joyful Sound of Music alongside her siblings to share their music with the community.

Ms. Sarah teaches piano and music theory at JMS. She began her musical journey as a child, studying both piano and viola. With 25 years of teaching experience, she is passionate about helping students build a strong musical foundation while developing their skills, confidence, and appreciation for music.

 In addition to teaching, Ms. Sarah works as a waiver specialist, helping older adults and their families by providing guidance and consultations on available care and support services.

Her experience extends across various educational settings, including music schools, colleges, and universities. Additionally, she has worked as a sound producer for Hohulina Broadcast Corporation and has served as a concertmaster with a variety of instruments. Ms. Marina's passion for music is evident in her dedication to her students' growth and development. She finds joy in witnessing her students' understanding of music blossom and encourages them to express their emotions, soul, and creativity through their performances. Her involvement in music concerts at 6 Miles Church in New Brunswick reflects her commitment to sharing her passion for music with others.

Mr. Dennis began his musical journey with a small plastic guitar, spending countless hours exploring sounds and melodies from a young age. As his love for music grew, he received his first acoustic guitar and enrolled in lessons at the original Joy Music Studio location. While guitar has remained his primary focus, he has also developed his skills on the ukulele and the piano. Today, Mr. Dennis uses his musical talents to serve his church community and finds joy in sharing music as a source of inspiration for others. He enjoys encouraging students to grow musically while helping them discover the joy and purpose that music can bring.

Ms. Eunice brings over a decade of experience in accompanying church choirs and currently contributes to a church praise band. Her teaching philosophy focuses on inspiring students to cultivate a lifelong enjoyment of piano playing. She emphasizes the development of rhythm comprehension, aiming for students to independently master rhythmic patterns. Ms. Eunice finds fulfillment in teaching students of all ages and is dedicated to nurturing their musical growth and passion.
